About the Department
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences was founded in the year 2010 along with the establishment of the Institute. The Department with expertise in English language and Economics offers a spectrum of courses at the B. Tech. level. It is designed to bring a humane touch to technology and to assist the engineers to develop themselves within the social context. It also aims at making the engineers aware of the various issues concerning man and society and to develop listening skills, speaking skills, reading skills, writing skills, group discussion debate and our self skills by using in speaking, reading and writing.
A complete science and technology education must include liberal arts, economics, social and behavioural sciences where the students unites application of scientific principles along with human, moral and social understanding. The courses offered by the Department are meant to sensitize the students to the broader social, cultural, economic, ethical and human issues involved on social change. Besides, one needs to learn English not as a subject but as a service language, serving as a vehicle for one’s education as well as professional needs. It is the ability to communicate well that distinguishes one individual from another. Communication Skills is an academic discipline that broadens the students’ outlook in terms of developing communication skills in English as well as developing their technological skills.The department has started Ph.D. program in the academic year 2014-15.
