B.Tech. in Mathematics & Computing

Mathematics and Computing is a driving force behind today’s technological advancements, powering innovations in data science, intelligent systems, and computational solutionsThe B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing is a distinctive program that combines the depth of mathematical theory with the innovation of computational science.

Designed for analytically inclined students, the program offers rigorous training in areas such as scientific computing, optimization, statistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and neural networks. With a strong foundation in mathematics and advanced computing, students develop the skills to analyze data, design intelligent systems, and solve complex problems across domains like technology, finance, and scientific research. The program also offers a unique opportunity for academically motivated students to pursue an Integrated Ph.D. after the fourth year within the institute.

Academic Flexibility and Future Pathways

  1. Direct admission to the PhD programme of the Institute with fellowship and without the requirement of GATE qualification is possible for B.Tech students with CGPA ≥8.0 till 6th semester. The candidate will not have to pursue 7th and 8th semesters of the B.Tech. programme while he/she will be starting the PhD course work and the stipend will be given for five years according to the PhD Rules and Regulations of the Institute for Regular PhD students. [B.Tech. regulations (Clause 17)]
  2. Top 10% students of each branch with CGPA > 8.0 till 6th semester without anybacklog may choose to pursue the last two semesters in IIT Madras leading to PhD in IIT Madras after the completion of 8th semester with CGPA > 8.0 as per the MoU between NIT Mizoram and IIT Madras. [B.Tech. regulations (Clause 17)]
